WASHINGTON, DC — The operator of several concert venues in the Washington, D.C., area announced Tuesday that all patrons attending events will be required to show proof of a full vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative test result from the past 72 hours.

I.M.P., operator of The Anthem, 9:30 Club and Lincoln Theatre in D.C. and Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, said proof of vaccination at these venues can be a patron's physical vaccine card or a photo of the vaccine card.

The new policy will take effect on Aug. 15.

At Merriweather Post Pavilion, the policy includes all patrons, including those sitting inside the pavilion and those sitting on the lawn.

Other concert venues in the D.C. area have yet to implement policies on vaccines. At Wolf Trap in Vienna, vaccination proof or negative coronavirus test results are not required. Patrons are only required to wear masks in restrooms and other enclosed spaces at the facility, which is owned by the National Park Service.

In late July, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser issued an order requiring masks be worn in public indoor settings, including all indoor concert venues, due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the District.

In response to the order, Nationals Park reinstated a policy in which all fans for sporting events and all patrons at concerts must wear a face-covering while indoors at the stadium.
