Armed Robbers Jump Mailman in DC, Postal Service Says

Police are searching for two masked men who made off with the mailman's empty mailbag.

WASHINGTON, DC — Two armed men beat and robbed a U.S. Post Office mailman while he was returning to his postal vehicle Saturday evening in Northeast D.C., according to U.S. Postal Inspection Service spokesman Frank Schissler.

Two masked robbers, one of whom was armed with a gun, approached the mailman as he headed back to his postal vehicle in the 2300 block of 2nd Street NE. They put a pistol to his head and ordered him on the ground, and then assaulted him.

The men took several items from the postal worker, including his mail bag, which was empty at the time, according to Schissler.
