Around The World Without Leaving DC: Where to Eat & Drink in 2019

New year, new places to explore. Check out these worldly flavors for the best that DC has to offer this winter.

If you're craving adventure in 2019, you don't need a plane ticket - just an empty stomach. Eat and drink your way around the world without leaving the DMV, thanks to the numerous restaurants and bars that bring the best flavors from around the globe to our humble DC home. Check out these five for inspiration:

1. The Berliner
This "modern German bierhall" brings Berlin street food to Georgetown. Expect good brats, good mustard, and (of course) good beer. If you're really hungry, you can even order "all the sausages and all the toppings, with pita bread" for just $45.

2. Tiki TNT
Craving something tropical? Head down to Tiki TNT at the Wharf, where you'll find island-inspired drinks and bites. Picture: lots of rum, coconut shrimp, poke, pineapples and even a waterside view (AKA the Washington Channel). When DC weather doesn't feel like a Caribbean paradise, Tiki TNT is a good substitute.

3. Choongman Chicken Drafthouse

This Columbia Heights haunt is known for its award-winning KFC - Korean fried chicken, that is. Come for the signature spicy sauces, stay for the beer wall. Powered by a self-serve beverage system called PourMyBeer, the draft house offers over 50 beers on tap that you can sample and pour yourself. Other highlights include the menu's bibimbap dishes and Bulgogi Fried Rice.

4. Zenebech Restaurant
In its new home in the Adams Morgan neighborhood, this family-owned Ethiopian restaurant is nothing short of exceptional. Delicious local spices, freshly baked injera, tons of veggies, many different tibs and a friendly staff make Zenebech Restaurant a DC cultural classic.

5. Espita Mezcaleria
Located in Shaw, Espita brings an Oaxacan-influenced menu to the neighborhood. Even more exciting than dinner is the recently-debuted lunch menu, which means you can get tacos, fried yuca and tostadas all day. Espita is also known for its amazing happy hour: $3 tacos, mezcal margaritas, and even a shot-and-beer special to take off the post-work edge. Follow the restaurant's Instagram to stay updated with events, specials and new menu items.

Those are just five of the countless amazing, eclectic restaurants DC has to offer - so cheers to 2019, it's going to be a good one.
