Arrest Made In Kingman Park Fatal Shooting: DC Police
Homicide detectives made an arrest in connection with the Nov. 6 fatal shooting of Demetrius Jones in Kingman Park.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested an individual in connection with the Nov. 6 fatal shooting of 41-year-old Demetrius Jones, of Northeast, according to a police release.
Officers from the Fifth District responded around 10:44 a.m., Friday to the 1700 block of Gales St., N.E., for the report of a shooting. They found Jones suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment, but all lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.
On Wednesday, MPD arrested Ronnie Melson, 40, of no fixed address, and charged him with first degree murder while armed. Police released Melson's record, which had numerous prior arrests, including threats, probation violations, assaults, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and heroin, distribution of cocaine and heroin, carrying a pistol without a license, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
