Arrest Made In Park View Homicide: DC Police

Metropolitan Police Department detectives have charged a Northwest man in connection with the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Devonte Wilson.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department charged a Northwest man Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Devonte Wilson of Northwest, according to a police release.

Officers from the Fourth District responded around 8:02 p.m., on Dec. 3 to the 700 block of Morton Street, Northwest for the report of a traffic accident. They found Wilson inside of a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported him to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. Wilson succumbed to his injuries on Dec. 4 and was pronounced dead.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant Thursday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Mohamed Goodwin, 32, of Northwest, and charged him with second degree murder while armed.

Goodwin was under the supervision with the District's Pretrial Services Agency at the time of his arrest.

MPD released details of Goodwin's arrest history, including including arrests for assault on a police officer, unlawful discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm, and possession of unregistered ammunition.
