Arrests Made In Multiple Robbery Offenses: Metro Police

Following these recent arrests, police are urging citizens to use the Safe Exchange Zones when conducting in-person transactions.

WASHINGTON, DC - Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division have announced multiple arrests in several recent robbery cases in Washington, DC.

The details of those cases are below.

As a reminder, all suspects are assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

First District:
On Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, two 15-year-old teen boys, of Southeast, DC, were arrested for a robbery (force and violence) offense that occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, in the 300-block of 12th Street, Southeast.

According to Metro Police, at approximately 2:50 pm, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects assaulted the victim and took property. The suspects then fled the scene. The suspects were apprehended by responding officers.

Third District:
On Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, a 17-year-old teen male, of Northwest, DC, and on Thursday, Dec.5, 2019, a 17-year-old teen male, of Northwest, DC, were arrested for an assault with intent to commit robbery offense that occurred on Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, in the 1800-block of 13th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 8:39 pm, police said the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects demanded the victim’s property and then attempted to take the property from the victim but were unsuccessful, police added. The suspects then fled the scene.

Fourth District:
On Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, 29 year-old Rafael Martinez, of Southeast, DC, was arrested for a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, in the 3800-block of 14th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 1:50 p.m., the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect snatched money from the victim and then fled the scene, police said. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2019, 20 year-old Anevay Hurey, of Northeast, DC, was arrested for an armed robbery (gun) offense that occurred on Wednesday, Dec.4, 2019, in the 200-block of Farragut Street, Northwest.

At approximately 8 p.m., two suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and demanded money, police said. The suspects took the victim’s vehicle keys and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. One of the suspects was apprehended by responding officers. This case remains under investigation.

Fifth District:
On Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, 27 year-old Christopher Davis, of Northeast, DC, was arrested for an armed robbery (gun) offense that occurred on Saturday, June 30, 2018, in the 1800-block of Benning Road, Northeast.

At approximately 11:11 a.m., two suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim’s property, police said. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene. This case remains under investigation.

Sixth District:

On Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, 18-year-old Tyrone Joseph Hawkins, of Northeast, DC, was arrested for an assault with intent to rob offense that occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, in the 500-block of 50th Place, Northeast.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., two suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects assaulted the victim and took property, police said. The suspects then fled the scene. This case remains under investigation.

Seventh District:
On Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 15 year-old teen boy, of Southeast, DC, was arrested for an armed robbery (knife) offense that occurred on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, in the 100-block of Atlantic Street, Southwest.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., two suspects approached the victims inside of the listed location. One suspect pulled out a knife and demanded the victim’s property, police said. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene. This case remains under investigation.

On Thursday, December 5, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 15 year-old juvenile male, of Fort Washington, MD, was arrested for an armed robbery (knife) offense that occurred on Saturday, Oct.26, 2019, in the 100-block of Irvington Street, Southwest.

At approximately 5:45 a.m., the victim and suspect agreed to meet at the listed location to conduct a transaction using the Offer Up online application. When the victim arrived, two suspects approached the victim. One of the suspects pulled out a knife and took property from the victim, police said. The suspects then fled the scene. This case remains under investigation.
