Assault With Intent To Kill Charge Filed Against Springfield Man

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested a suspect Wednesday in connection with an assault of a juvenile in the Stanton Park area, according to a police release.

On Wednesday around 4:51 p.m., citizens flagged down officers from the Special Operation Division in reference to a man assaulting a juvenile in the 800 block of Maryland Avenue, N.E. Police took the suspect into custody. He and the victim were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives arrested Idreis Alexander Augustus, 28, of Springfield, Virginia, and charged him with assault with intent to kill, first-degree cruelty to children, and destruction of property.
