Attempted Armed Bank Robbery Suspect Sought: DC Police
Metropolitan Police Department detectives released photos of a man they say tried to rob a Wells Fargo bank in the Shaw neighborhood Friday.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives are asking the public's help in identifying a suspect in connection with an attempted armed bank robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon that took place Friday afternoon near Howard University, according to a police release.
Around 2:52 p.m., the suspect entered the Wells Fargo Bank at 1901 7th St., N.W., brandished a knife at the victim and demanded money from the bank tellers. The victim broke free of the suspect, but the suspect approached a second victim and a struggle ensued. The suspect fled the bank without stealing any property.

MPD asks anyone with information about this case or the identity of the suspect to call 202-727-9099 or submit an anonymous tip by text to 50411. MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for a bank robbery in the District.
