Bank of America Names Tony Bland As Merrill Market Exec For D.C.

PRESS RELEASE (August 14, 2019) - Bank of America has named Tony Bland as its Managing Director and Market Executive for Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. He will be based in Washington, D.C.

Bland’s responsibilities include leading Merrill Lynch’s locally based Financial Advisors, Corporate Benefits Specialists and Private Wealth Advisors, as well as managing all Merrill Lynch offices in the Greater Washington market. Previously, he was Merrill’s Managing Director and Market Executive in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he also served as Bank of America's Market Integration Executive for Broward County.

“Tony is the consummate professional and was extremely successful in the Fort Lauderdale area for over a dozen years. His ability to work with clients, his team and his understanding of the markets and our business make him a tremendous addition to our Washington, DC team,” said Larry Di Rita, Bank of America’s Market President for Greater Washington.

Bland succeeds longtime Managing Director and Market President Jeff Wood, who has taken on a new role as Regional Managing Director of Private Wealth Management for the Mountain West region, based in Los Angeles.

Bland’s duties in South Florida make him particularly well qualified for his new role as Merrill’s Managing Director. He was responsible for integrating Bank of America business lines into the market, including Retail/Consumer, Preferred & Small Business, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Bank of America Private Bank, Business Banking, Global Commercial Banking, Global Corporate & Investment Banking, and Global Markets.

Bland also has a strong background in philanthropy. He created the Merrill Lynch Bank of America Greater Ft. Lauderdale 5-K Bull Run, and he served on the boards of the Museum of Discovery & Science and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation.
