Bicyclist Struck, Killed By Oncoming Vehicle: DC Police

A bicyclist was struck and killed Thursday night as he was riding his bicycle in Northeast.

WASHINGTON, DC — A bicyclist was struck and killed Thursday night as he was traveling on 63rd Street, Northeast, near the D.C./Maryland border, according to a report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

A preliminary investigation by MPD's Major Crash Investigations Unit determined the man was riding his bicycle around 10:07 p.m., southbound in the 200 block of 63rd St., N.E., when he crossed over from the right side of the roadway toward the center of the road and in front of a vehicle that was slowing due to a traffic signal. The man then crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lane, where he was struck by an oncoming GMC Denali.

Police have not released the name of the man, pending notification of next of kin.
