Blunt Force Trauma Fatality Investigated In Petworth

D.C. Police detectives are investigating the death of a 64-year-old Northwest man that occurred early Sunday morning in the Petworth area.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a blunt force trauma fatality that occurred early Sunday morning in the Petworth area, according to a police release.

An officer from the Fourth District responded around 12:55 a.m., to the 1400 block of Perry Place, N.W., for the report of a man down. The officer found a man suffering from blunt force trauma. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the man to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. All lifesaving efforts failed, and the man was pronounced dead. Police located a second man in the area, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

MPD identified the deceased victim as Saul Hernandez, 64, of Northwest.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any persons responsible for committing a homicide in the District. Police ask anyone with information about this homicide to call 202-727-9099 or send an anonymous tip by text to 50411.
