Brand New Raw Bar About to Open at Navy Yard
Whaley's plans to open May 16 in the historic Lumber Shed, and will offer oysters and other seafood plates.

Got a craving for oysters? You're in luck: A brand new raw bar is opening up at Navy Yard on Monday.
Whaley's, a raw bar and restaurant, announced earlier this year it would open on May 16 in the historic Lumber Shed at 301 Water Street Suit 115 SE in the Navy Yard area, according to a Popville report quoting from a statement.
Chef Daniel Perron, formerly of restaurants like Blue Duck Tavern and The Oval Room, will unveil a menu featuring shellfish towers, an assortment of seafood plates and even a rotating family-style platter. There will also be a variety of specialty cocktails and a wine and craft beer selection.

The restaurant also commissioned artist John DeNapoli to create a 100-foot mural titled, "Under the Sea" to add the proper ambience.
Whaley's will be in the south face of the Lumber Shed building. It will have 44 seats in the dining room and 22 seats at the bar. Outdoor patio seating will be available as well when weather permits, and it will feature excellent views of the riverfront and Yards Park.

Whaley's will only be open for dinner at first, but eventually it will expand to lunch as well as brunch service.
