Pedestrian Killed in WMATA Bus Carjacking; Driver Stabbed W/ Scewdriver
A suspect is in custody and the pedestrian has died after being struck by the bus, reports indicate.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — An armed carjacker stabbed a Metro bus driver with a screwdriver and took control of the bus Tuesday morning, killing a pedestrian, according to the D.C. Metro Police Department and local media reports.
The suspect is in custody, according to police. The carjacking occurred near the 4200 block of Minnesota Ave. NE.
The pedestrian was struck in a gas station parking lot, according to police.
WTTG investigative journalist Emily Miller tweeted that Police Chief Cathy Lanier was headed to the scene, and Mark Segraves of NBC 4 said that "multiple suspects" were still at large, although the bus has since been recovered. Aaron Gilchrist of NBC 4 tweeted that there was ultimately only one suspect, and that the weapon had been recovered.
D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier told reporters in a press conference that the suspect was "violent and resistant," according to a Washington Post report. The chaotic incident was over just three minutes after it started, and Lanier called it a bizarre occurrence, the report added.
No passengers were injured. Reports indicated the passengers fled the bus when the suspect attacked the driver.
The incident happened in the 3800 block of Jay Street NE at around 10:30 a.m. when the man boarded the bus and stood next to the driver, suddenly attacking the driver at the next stop, according to the Post. The driver was able to get off the bus.
