DC Firefighters Battle Rooftop Blaze in Downtown
Video shows heavy smoke, flames climbing into the D.C. skyline.

D.C. Fire & EMS are continuing to fight an apartment building fire just blocks from the White House late Tuesday afternoon to prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.
A massive column of smoke billowed over Washington, D.C., after the fire broke out in the 1300 block of 12th Street NW in Logan Circle, and D.C. Fire & EMS quickly declared it a two-alarm fire. Video posted on Twitter (below) showed heavy flames and thick smoke coming out from the top of an unidentified building. A reporter from the Washington Post tweeted that the fire appeared to be coming from the roof of an apartment building.
As of 4:30 p.m., the column of smoke had disappeared from the D.C. skyline. Shortly before, D.C. Fire & EMS tweeted: "We continue to attack the fire and working to prevent spread to adjacent building. No injuries at present."
