Brick Thrower Sought In Assault On Police Near Lafayette Park

D.C. Police are looking for a man who they say threw bricks at multiple police officers on May 31 near Lafayette Park.

WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives from the Second District of the Metropolitan Police Department are asking the public's help in locating a suspect they say threw bricks at police officers near Lafayette Square on May 31, according to a police release. MPD shared photos of the suspect caught on a nearby surveillance camera.

Lafayette Park was the site of multiple protests on the weekend of May 29-31, following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police, according The Washington Post. On May 31, protesters set fire to St. John's Church near the White House and the AFL-CIO building at 16th and L Street, N.W.

Around 12:01 a.m., on Sunday, police say the suspect threw bricks at multiple officers in the 1600 block of H Street, N.W. Two officers were taken to nearby hospital to be treated for their injuries.
