Brother Of Pentagon Cop-Killer Held In GA Double Murder: Police

A Georgia man suspected of killing a young couple is the brother of the man who fatally stabbed a Pentagon officer in August, police said.

COBB COUNTY, GA — A Georgia man suspected of killing a young couple last week is the brother of the man who fatally stabbed a Pentagon police officer in August, police say.

Matthew Lanz, 22, was arrested Friday in Cobb County, Georgia and faces multiple charges, including 10 counts of attempted murder on a police officer. Cobb County police also connected him to the killings of firefighter Timothy Justin Hicks and his wife, Amber, both 31 years old.

Lanz's brother Austin stabbed and killed a Pentagon police officer in August before he was shot by law enforcement officers and died. Austin, who was also a Georgia resident, was 27 when he was killed by police after the officer attack and a standoff. Police in Sandy Springs, Georgia, confirmed the two men are related.
