FORESTVILLE, MD — A reckless ATV driver who taunted a Prince George’s County Police patrol car – and shared it all on video – is on custody on numerous charges, authorities say.
The friend who cheered him on and shot the footage is also wanted on multiple charges. The video was recorded on May 23 on Pennsylvania Avenue near Silver Hill Road in Forestville and then posted online.

Police say the reckless ATV driver is Piera Sterling Barbour, 26, of Corning Avenue in Fort Washington, while the man who recorded the video is Michael Wayne Roane, 25, of East Capitol Street in Washington, D.C.
The stunt video posted to Instagram last weekend shows a man, whom police say is Barbour, as he rides wheelies with an ATV, stands on one leg and drives without touching the handlebars – all while zooming down the road in District Heights.

To make matters worse, he cuts in front of and rides alongside a police car during the filming, cheered on by Roane, who urges him to ride without using his hands, and to keep going.
Both men face multiple charges, including reckless driving, negligent driving, and other traffic violations.
“This type of dangerous driving is not welcome on our roadways. Our community is understandably frustrated with the brazen behavior, as are we. Investigators are constantly working to identify those who engage in this behavior and charge them accordingly," said Police Chief Hank Stawinski in a statement.
In most cases, police departments around the Washington, DC, area do not chase law-breaking dirt bike or ATV drivers because of the dangers involved. Several riders died in crashes the past two years as they fled from police after driving illegally on streets.
The problem of daredevil drivers on area highways is a recurring one.
In December, a swam of an estimated 100 motorycles and ATV riders brought traffic on the Capital Beltway to a halt.
Traffic cameras showed the bikers zooming through traffic on the Inner Loop in Prince George’s County, I-295 and U.S. 50, reports WTOP. The hot-dogging riders drove against the traffic flow, popped wheelies and reportedly harassed Beltway drivers.
Maryland State Police troopers rushed to the Beltway, but the bikers had left by the time officers arrived.
Police ask residents to help keep county roads safe. Anyone with information about the illegal operation or storage of ATVs or dirt bikes is asked to call 911 or 1-866-411-TIPS. A cash reward is available.
