🚨 Urgent: Community members - Adopters and fosters are needed to save 20 dogs on the latest urgent list by Tuesday, 4/28.&nbsp;Adoption fees are sponsored or $0 for some of these dogs and all dogs 81+ pounds.&nbsp;They all need to be adopted or have rescue commitment, and have to leave the shelter by Tuesday (or after spay/neuter.) If no one saves them, they will be euthanized due to being over capacity.&nbsp; As of 4/23 PM: Up to 20 dogs need adopters and fosters! Alice is being adopted.&nbsp;Adoption fees are sponsored or $0 for Adele, Beauty, Coco Edi, Fern, Handsom, Myles, and all dogs 81+ pounds.&nbsp;
🐶&nbsp;Adopters: Please go to the shelter today&nbsp;and Friday between&nbsp;11am to 7pm (arrive by 6pm).&nbsp;Adopters are able to meet 2 dogs and bring dogs for meet and greets. If anyone is going to adopt them, please comment on their pages in the linked album.

While at the museum, support sustainability at the&nbsp;Mitsitam&nbsp;Native Foods Cafe. This April, chef Alex Strong is commemorating Earth Day with a special&nbsp;Chef’s&nbsp;Table on April 22,&nbsp;showcasing&nbsp;seasonal, sustainably sourced&nbsp;ingredients.&nbsp;On April 26, join her again at the&nbsp;Chef’s&nbsp;Table for elk quiche and Southwest quiche.&nbsp;For a sweet treat, enjoy a cherry blossom cupcake&nbsp;from the&nbsp;cafe to&nbsp;celebrate the flavors and beauty of spring in Washington, D.C.&nbsp;
To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the museum will host programs&nbsp;reflecting on&nbsp;the ever-evolving nature of the country, communities, and future we share through the unique lens of Always Becoming. The&nbsp;site-specific sculptures by Nora Naranjo Morse (Kha'p'o Owingeh [Santa Clara Pueblo]) on the southern exposure of our Washington, D.C.&nbsp;museum were constructed using Native building techniques. Made entirely of natural materials, including clay, straw, sand, soil, and wood, the sculptures were designed to reveal their inner structure over time. Their transitory nature reflects the relationship between Indigenous cultures and the land.&nbsp;
This project received funding from the Smithsonian’s <a href="https://www.si.edu/250" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Our Shared Future: 250</a>, a Smithsonian-wide initiative supported by private philanthropy and created to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary and advance the Smithsonian vision for the next 250 years.&nbsp;

Bring your family and friends to the Purcellville Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 25 from noon to 7 p.m. rain or shine. This free, family-friendly event will be held at Fireman’s Field Park and inside the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink at 250 South Nursery Avenue.

Enjoy a full day of live music and performances across multiple stages, along with an art exhibit, games, chalk art, and a variety of interactive activities. Browse offerings from local vendors featuring handcrafted goods, food, beverages, and more. There will be fun for all ages, including face painting, glitter tattoos, sidewalk chalk art, and t-shirt or tote bag decorating. Local non-profits will also be on-site sharing information and resources. Special activities will highlight and celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence. 
Inside the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink—transformed into the Art Hall—you’ll find more than 30 works of art, live performances, art demonstrations, and hands-on activities including quilt square decorating and an Instrument Petting Zoo. Be sure to pick up a festival scavenger hunt booklet and complete it for a chance to win a prize!

Arlington Language School Marks 40th Anniversary

ICA Language Services (ICA), a family-owned, woman-led small business based in Arlington, is celebrating its 40th anniversary, marking decades of supporting the U.S. military and diplomatic community through language training and testing. Founded in April 1986 as Inlingua Foreign Language Center, a 6-classroom language school, ICA expanded under the leadership of Deidre Doyle, an entrepreneur with a background in organizational management who joined the company the same year. As a military spouse, she had developed a deep understanding of military organizations and culture, helping shape ICA into a trusted provider of language training and testing for military professionals. Doyle became a partner in 1993 and sole owner in 2009, when she changed the name to ICA Language Services. Today, ICA operates a 60+ classroom schoolhouse in Rosslyn and has delivered nearly five million hours of language instruction and more than 30,000 language assessments across 120+ languages. ICA also provides training on military bases throughout the US and abroad. The company is now led by President and CEO Lexie Casey, Doyle’s daughter, who joined ICA in 2009 after a decade in government contracting. Casey became a partner in 2014 and assumed day-to-day leadership in 2015, when Doyle transitioned to Chair of the Board. ICA has employed more than 1,300 individuals from 131 countries, often providing a first job in the United States for language professionals. Certified by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, ICA provides proficiency- and performance-based language training and testing services supporting diplomacy, security, and global engagement.
