RESTON, VA — Reston residents looking for a way to give back to the community can apply to be a candidate to run for the nine-member Reston Community Center Board of Governors, which is responsible for overseeing the RCC.
To be eligible, you must be a resident of Small District 5 and be 18 or older. In order to be placed on the Preference Poll ballot, all candidates must fill out a Candidacy Statement, which will be available online starting Saturday, Aug. 1, at 9 a.m. The deadline for filing is Saturday, Aug. 15, at 5 p.m.
The Preference Poll takes place annually and guides the selection of those who will serve on the Board of Governors. The Board sets RCC policies and priorities for its budget and the programs it offers. Each year, an election is held to fill three seats on the Board, with members of Small District 5 casting their votes. This year's candidates will be running for three-year terms.
