Capitals Viewing Party Sells Out Instantly

WASHINGTON, DC -- If you were hoping to log on right now to pick up a couple free tickets to the Washington Capitals Stanley Cup Finals Game 5 Viewing Party at Capital One Arena on Thursday, don't bother, because they're long gone.

In fact, most of the people who were ready for the 1 p.m. ticket release on the dot couldn't get tickets. The site crashed and by the time the dust cleared, all the tickets had been snapped up.

"Ridiculous. I was on the site at 1255 waiting and then it wouldn’t load when it was time to get a ticket," tweeted Zak Brisko.

"INSANE. 6 different family members were sitting at computers watching the countdown and got error messages right at 1," added Jamie Barmak.

"Hmmm. Me and a friend were ready before 1 and sat through a que and got nothing. Well alrighty then. Ouch," said BushidoViking.

The Capitals game against the Las Vegas Golden Knights will begin at 8 p.m. The Capitals, with a 3-1 series lead, are one win away from the Stanley Cup thanks to a 6-2 home win on Monday.

There will be a Washington Mystics game at 4 p.m. that same day, and those with tickets to that game can stay for the viewing party. Those tickets have been sold out, and some have been offered on the secondary market for hundreds of dollars.

For those who aren't able to get into the arena, there will be an outdoor viewing party with the game shown on the big screens on Capital One Arena.
