Capitol Heights Man Charged In Stabbing Death: Police
D.C. Police arrested a Capitol Heights man Monday in connection with the early morning fatal stabbing of a Southeast man.
WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a suspect in connection with a Monday morning stabbing death of a Southeast man, according to a police release. Police identified the deceased victim as 56-year-old Ronald Collins.
Around 5:26 a.m., officers from the Sixth District were dispatched to the 5100 block of A St., S.E., for the report of a stabbing. They found Collins unconscious, unresponsive, and suffering from an apparent stab wound. D.C. Fire and EMS determined Collins showed no signs of life and pronounced him dead. He was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Police arrested Daniel Gayden, 54, of Capitol Heights, and charged him with second degree murder while armed. Following a preliminary investigation, detectives determined the stabbing was the result of a dispute among known parties.
