WASHINGTON, DC — The National Cherry Blossom Festival is inviting people of all ages to apply to become a volunteer at the 2022 festival, which will take place in March and April.

As part of the festival’s volunteer program, local businesses with community service programs, and community service groups are encouraged to volunteer. General knowledge about Washington, D.C., and the surrounding area is helpful but not necessary, the festival said.

Volunteers will assist with the festival in a variety of roles, including balloon handlers for the televised National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade, Kite Cops to enforce safe kite-flying at the Blossom Kite Festival, and behind-the-scenes logistics roles at Petalpalooza.
