Child Cruelty Charge Filed Against Southeast Man: Report
Metropolitan Police Department detectives charged a Southeast man in connection with the traumatic injury of an infant boy.

WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department charged a Southeast man Tuesday with cruelty to children in connection with the traumatic injury of an infant boy, according to a police report.
Detectives responded around 1:12 p.m., to a local hospital for the report of an infant showing visible trauma. The detectives found an infant boy suffering from life-threatening injuries. Following an investigation, they determined the injuries were inflicted on the infant inside a residence in the 3800 block of South Capitol Street, Southeast. The victim is in critical condition and continues to be treated for his injuries.
Police charged Donovan Gilchrist, 25, of Southeast, DC, with first-degree cruelty to children. The detectives’ investigation determined that this offense was domestic in nature.
