Child Shoots Girl, 4, While Playing With A Firearm: Police
D.C. Police are investigating the accidental shooting of a 4-year-old girl Monday night in the Buena Vista neighborhood.
WASHINGTON, DC — A 4-year-old Southeast girl is fighting for her life after accidentally being shot by another child Monday might, according to Metropolitan Police Chief Peter Newsham.
Around 8 p.m., officers from the Seventh District responded to the report of a shooting in the 3000 block of 30th St., S.E.
"When they got on the scene, they located the child inside of an apartment suffering from a gunshot wound," Newsham said, during a Tuesday morning press briefing. "She was taken to a local hospital. She's been subsequently transferred to another hospital, where she is fighting for her life at this time."

Following an investigation, police determined another child was playing with a firearm inside the residence.
"We believe this led to an accidental discharge," Newsham said.
