WASHINGTON, DC — Christmas is almost here, and for many that involves traveling to visit friends and family. But for locals who stick around, it can mean confusion about when services will be available, especially this year when Christmas falls on a Sunday and the official federal holiday is on Monday, the 26th. Here's a complete breakdown of what facilities and services will be available this weekend and beyond in the District.
D.C. city government facilities: Closed Dec. 24-26
Department of Motor Vehicles: Closed Dec. 24-26

Library of Congress: Closed Dec. 24-26
All Smithsonian museums: Closed Dec. 25, open every other day.

International Spy Museum: Open 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Dec. 24, closed Dec. 25, reopens Dec. 26 at 9 a.m.
Newseum: Closed Dec. 25, open every other day.
Washington Monument: Closed until 2019 for repairs to its elevator.
Parking enforcement: "When a holiday falls on a trash and recycling collection day, collections will 'slide' to the next day for the rest of the week after the holiday through Saturday," the Department of Public Works says on its website. "For example, if the holiday falls on a Monday, DPW will collect Monday routes on Tuesday and so on through Saturday."
