CT Man Killed In Southeast Stabbing: DC Police

D.C. homicide detectives made an arrest in the Thursday night fatal shooting of a Connecticut man.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan police Department arrested a suspect in connection with a Thursday night fatal stabbing in Southeast, according to a police release. MPD identified the deceased victim as Courtney Jones, 54, of Hartford, Connecticut.

Officers from the Sixth District responded to the 2300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, S.E., for the report of a stabbing. They found two adult men both inside a vehicle, one of whom was unconscious. D.C. Fire and EMS transported Jones to a nearby hospital for treatment, but all life-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead. The second victim received non-life threatening injuries and was treated on the scene.

MPD arrested Kenneth Wayne Stewart, 54, of no fixed address and charged him with first degree murder while armed. Following a preliminary investigation, detectives determined the stabbing was the result of a dispute among known parties.
