D.C. Residents' Input Sought Regarding Bicycle, Pedestrian Safety

The District Department of Transportation hopes residents will attend a May 18 meeting to share insight about bicycle and pedestrian safety.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Residents are invited to share input regarding livability within the Rock Creek Far West district, which lies in the district’s northwest quadrant within Massachusetts Avenue, Whitehaven Street, Whitehaven Parkway, Archbold Parkway, Foundry Branch Valley Park, the Potomac River, and the D.C./Maryland border. Department of Transportation officials are hoping to glean information at the Saturday, May 18, meeting regarding how to enhance transportation safety, ways to improve the district’s bicycle network and keep pedestrians safer in crosswalks and on sidewalks.

The District Department of Transportation also hopes to receive input about making bus stops more accessible, making intersections safer, and how to roll out milestones consistent with Vision Zero. The meeting will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 18 at Stoddert Elementary School’s multipurpose room, 4001 Calvert St. NW.

This will be the second of three public workshops hosted by the DDOT on this subject. Feedback gathered so far will shared at the meeting. A map of the study area can be found on the project’s website at www.rockcreekfarwest.com.
