Is DC the Best Place for the 4th of July? You Might Be Surprised
A new ranking list of the best and worst cities for 4th of July puts D.C. in a surprising spot.

When it comes to the 4th of July, who would claim that there's a better place to celebrate Independence Day than the nation's capital? As it turns out, one survey doesn't even put it in the top three.
Washington, D.C. is of course the natural place to celebrate a uniquely American holiday like the 4th of July, and the District certainly doesn't hold back with a big celebrity-packed concert and a spectacular fireworks show over our national monuments. But a new WalletHub survey claims that there are three cities where you'd be better off celebrating Independence Day: Seattle, Minneapolis and New Orleans.
WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities based on "how well they balance holiday cost and fun," according to a statement. They used 16 different metrics, including such factors as the duration of fireworks shows and weather forecasts.

The 16 metrics are divided into three categories: entertainment and food, attractions and activities, and 4th of July weather forecast. D.C. placed 33rd out of 100 for entertainment and food, 6th in attractions and activities and 23rd in 4th of July weather forecast.
WalletHub projects that American households will spend an average of $370.75 this holiday, which is a 7 percent increase over 2015. Americans will gobble down 150 million hot dogs, 700 million pounds of chicken and 190 million pounds of beef, and we'll wash it down with more than $1 billion in beer, the report states.
