DC Councilmember Jack Evans Blocked By Wikipedia: Report

Evans has been accused of continually editing his own Wikipedia page.

Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans has a lot of responsibilities, from helping run the D.C. government to overseeing WMATA as chairman of the Metro Board of Directors. But he appears to have found time to edit his own Wikipedia page, and editors at the site aren't happy.

DCist reports that Wikipedia administrator GorillaWarfare recently announced that "Evansjack1" had been blocked because he is a "problematic editor more or less since than the start."

"He seems to lack the basic competency to interact productively with the editing community, and he seems to be here mostly to scrub his Wikipedia article," GorillaWarfare added, according to DCist.

The Washington City Paper confirmed back in 2014 through emails obtained via the Freedom of Information Act that Evansjack1 is indeed Jack Evans' account. He reportedly had been blocked that year for editing his own page.

Wikipedia does not allow editors to modify pages that they are closely affiliated with.
