DC Fire And EMS Works To Contain Hazmat Incident Near Rock Creek

DC Fire and EMS is working to keep a petroleum-based product from flowing into Rock Creek in Northwest D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC — DC Fire and EMS worked Wednesday to keep a petroleum-based product from flowing into Rock Creek in Northwest D.C.

The hazardous material incident occurred in Broad Branch Creek near Broad Branch Road and Beach Drive in Northwest. The department's hazmat team is searching upstream for the source of the petroleum product.

The department said its Fireboat Support Unit placed a protective boom in the creek to prevent the hazardous product from reaching Rock Creek.
