DC Fountain Suddenly Turns Blood Red (Photo)
The Dupont Circle Fountain turned an ominous hue on Monday, and it's reportedly resulted in an investigation.

WASHINGTON, DC -- The End Times may be upon us -- or perhaps just upon Dupont Circle, as reportedly the fountain there suddenly turned an ominious red color on Monday. And after the National Park Service looked into it, the police may be getting involved as well, according to a report.
Twitter user "The Pope of Dupont Circle" posted the photo -- embedded below -- of the strange sight, which he spotted Monday morning.
"I noticed it was a dark red color and it looked a little bit like blood," local resident Alexa Silverman told DCist. "It was definitely a bit of a shocking sight this morning."

DCist reported that a National Park Service spokesman said that after they received reports of the strange color, they found that someone had added some powdered dye to the fountain, and that already it had almost totally been filtered out.
However, NPS workers reportedly drained the fountain on Monday so it could be cleaned and refilled Tuesday. U.S. Park Police will be investigating.
