DC Has 2 Of USA's Hottest Neighborhoods, Says Scientific Report
These two D.C. neighborhoods are some of the best places to put one foot in front of the other in the whole USA, according to a new report.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Yet another rankings is out dissecting desirable neighborhoods nationwide, and two D.C. neighborhoods are high on the list. Congratulations, Shaw and "U District."
The totally scientific list from HotSpot Rentals lists the 25 "hottest" neighborhoods in America. The Shaw neighborhood came in 8th with a 82 hot points, and some neighborhood we're not familiar with called the "U District" came in 11th with 78 hot points -- perhaps they're referring to the U Street Corridor?
The neighborhoods were ranked in six categories: walkability, transit, budget, entertainment, lifestyle, weather.

"Every city has new hotspots, gritty classics and much in between. But how do you quantify the 'coolness' of a given neighborhood, beyond what’s simply trendy and hip?" the report states. "How do you compare the vibrant and diverse cultural epicenters of our nation’s most beloved cities? Put simply, we used data to determine street cred."
Exactly what data they use isn't really laid out in the report, although they say their data came from Yelp, TripAdvisor, and WalkScore, among others.

But whatever the case may be, they declared Shaw almost perfectly walkable, with a score of 96. So if you're walking in the Shaw neighborhood anytime soon, you may notice that it's far easier to walk there than it is in Adams Morgan. Entertainment scored an embarrassing 50 in Shaw, however, meaning residents are half-bored -- or half-entertained, if you're a glass-half-full kind of person.
The "U District" was even more walkable, with a score of 97, meaning U Districtians have even more of a pep in their step than Shaw residents. They were slightly more bored than Shaw residents though, with a 48 in the entertainment category.
