DC Man Accused Of Sexual Assault In Shipley
Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested a Southeast man Wednesday, accusing him of sexually assaulting a woman in Shipley.

WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives from the Sexual Assault Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department accused a Southeast man of sexual abuse in connection with a Wednesday afternoon assault in Shipley, according to an MPD release.
Police say that Lavelle James, 42, of Southeast, approached the female victim around 12:35 p.m., inside of a building in the 2000 block of Savannah St., S.E. He then assaulted the victim with the intention of committing a sexual act, according to police. James fled the scene, but he was taken into custody by officers.
MPD arrested James and charged him with assault with the intent to commit first-degree sexual abuse.
