DC Man Sentenced To Prison For Sexual Assault Of Boy

WASHINGTON, DC — A Washington, DC man was sentenced to a 9-and-a-half year prison term for sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy, U.S. Attorney Channing D. Phillips announced.

The man, 37, is not identified to protect the privacy of the victim, prosecutors said. He pled guilty in May 2017 to first-degree child sexual abuse.

According to the government’s evidence, between Sept. 30, 2016 and early Oct. 1, 2016, the defendant raped his son’s 12-year-old friend, who was at their residence in Southeast Washington for a sleepover, police said. The victim disclosed the assault and an investigation led to the man’s arrest.

Upon completion of his prison term, the man will be placed on five years of supervised release and will be required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, prosecutors said.
