DC Police Arrest 2 Suspects In 2 Fatal Shootings

DC Police detectives arrested two suspects in two different fatal shootings on Monday. One occurred in September, the other on Jan. 6.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested two suspects in two separate homicides Monday, according to police reports. One homicide took place Monday and the other in September.

On Jan. 6, at about 3:48 p.m., officers from the Sixth district responded to the report of gunshots in the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. They found Tia Carey, 21, of Southeast suffering from a gunshot wound. Carey was taken to a local hospital to be treated for life threatening injuries, but all efforts to save her failed. She was pronounced dead.

Police arrested Tierra Posey, 21, of Southeast and charged her with Second Degree Murder While Armed.

Detectives also arrested another homicide suspect on Monday in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in September.

On Friday, Sept. 2, at about 9:30 p.m., officers from the Sixth District responded to the 5100 block of H Street, Southeast, for a report of gunshots. When they arrived on the scene, they found Christopher Redfear, 23, of Capital Heights, Maryland, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS personnel transported Redfear to an area hospital, but all lifesaving efforts failed. He was pronounced dead.

On Monday, detectives arrested Julius Senior, 30, of Southeast and charged him with First Degree Murder while Armed.
