UPDATED: New Suspect Charged In String Of Northwest Robberies

Metropolitan Police Department detectives charged a new suspect with 6 counts of Robbery (Force and Violence) that took place in Northwest.

UPDATED (Wednesday, Jan. 29, 3:45 p.m.): After further investigations, Metropolitan Police Department detectives determined the first suspect they charged was not involved in the six robberies that took place in November and December 2019 in the Second District, according to a press release. Instead, they arrested Darrius Watson, 20, of Northeast, and charged him with six counts of Robbery (Force and Violence).

WASHINGTON, DC -- Metropolitan Police Department detectives arrested a suspect in a string of robberies that took place in November and December 2019 in the Second District, according to a police release.

MPD arrested an individual on Monday, Jan. 27, and charged him with six counts of Robbery (Force and Violence) for incidents that took place in November and December 2019 in the Second District. Here are the specifics for the six incidents:

  • On Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at approximately 5:52 p.m., the suspect approached the victim at the in the 3800 block of Huntington Street, N.W., assaulted the victim, and snatched the victim’s property before fleeing the scene.
  • On Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the suspect approached the victim in the 5000 block of 44th Street, N.W., assaulted the victim, and snatched the victim’s property before fleeing the scene.
  • On Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at about 8:09 p.m., the suspect approached the victim in the 3900 block of Ingomar Street, N.W., assaulted the victim, and snatched the victim’s property before fleeing the scene.
  • On Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at about 5:30 p.m., the suspect approached the victim in the 3800 block of Ingomar Street, N.W., assaulted the victim, and snatched the victim’s property before fleeing the scene.
  • On Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at about 4 p.m., the suspect approached the victim in the 4300 block of Yuma Street, N.W., assaulted the victim and snatched the victim’s property before fleeing the scene.
  • On Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019, , at about 6:42 pm, the suspect approached the victim in the 3900 block of Jenifer Street, N.W., assaulted the victim and snatched the victim’s property before fleeing the scene.
