DC Police Investigate 4 Fatal Shootings

Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives are investigating four recent fatal shootings.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating four recent homicides, according to police releases.

In the first case, officers from the Sixth District responded last Thursday, around 12:20 a.m., to 1100 block of 46th Place, S.E., for the report of the sound of gunshots. They found an adult male, inside a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital, but all lifesaving efforts failed and the victim was pronounced dead.

Police identified the decedent as Demetrius Sullivan, 30, of Suitland, Maryland.

In the second case, Sixth District officers responded on Thursday, around 4:12 a.m., for the report of a shooting in the 1500 block of 25th Street, S.E. They found an unconscious adult male, suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS determined the victim displayed no signs consistent with life and he was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

MPD identified the deceased victim as Zamonte Clark, 23, of Southeast.


In the third case, Sixth District officers were dispatched on Friday, around 11:13 p.m., for the report of the sound of gunshots in the 1900 block of 18th Street, S.E. They found an adult female, suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS took her to an area hospital, but all life-saving efforts failed and she was pronounced dead. A short time later, officers also located an adult male, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

MPD identified the decedent as Jordyn Simmons, 20, of Hyattsville, Maryland.


In the fourth case, officers from the First District responded around 10:57 p.m., on Saturday, to the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, S.E., for the report of a shooting. They found Gardiner, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken by D.C. Fire and EMS to an area hospital for treatment, but all live-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.
