DC Police Investigate Saturday Morning Homicide In Benning

Metropolitan Police Department detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a Southeast man that occurred Saturday in Benning.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Metropolitan Police Department detectives are investigating a homicide that took place early Saturday morning in the Benning neighborhood, according to a police release.

Officers from the Sixth District responded Feb. 1, at 2:39 a.m., to the report of a shooting in the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue, N.E. After canvassing the area, they found an adult male inside a vehicle, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to an area hospital, but life-saving efforts failed. The victim, identified as Donelle Hodges, 24, of Southeast, was pronounced dead.
