DC Police Officer Shot, Suspect Still Not Caught: MPD

A D.C. police officer who was shot Sunday night by a man, who still has not been caught, was treated and released from a local hospital.

WASHINGTON, DC — A D.C. police officer who was shot Sunday night by a man— who still has not been caught — was treated and released from a local hospital, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The shooting happened after police officers approached the man on the street in the 1400 block of Quincy Street NW, NBC4 reported. During the interaction, the suspect opened fire and then fled the scene.

"No arrests at this time and police continue to canvas the area," the MPD said Sunday night.

The injured police officer was from the MPD’s 4th District. “We wish him a speedy recovery and thank him for his courageous efforts,” the police said.
