DC Positive Coronavirus Cases Tops 5,300; Total Deaths 264

D.C. Health reported six new deaths due to the new coronavirus, bringing the total numbers of District deaths to 264

WASHINGTON, DC — The D.C. Health Department confirmed six new deaths Tuesday due to COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in the District to 264. D.C. Health also confirmed 152 new positive COVID-19 cases, bringing the overall total to 5,322.

The new deaths in the District are described as:

  • 56-year-old male
  • 59-year-old male
  • 66-year-old male
  • 72-year-old female
  • 77-year-old female
  • 99-year-old male

D.C. Health has confirmed 24,329 District residents have been tested for the coronavirus and 667 have recovered. Contact tracing investigations are focused positive cases tied to health care workers and first responders, senior care facilities, correctional and detention centers, childcare facilities and facilities serving homeless individuals.

Globally, more than 3.5 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 248,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Monday morning. In the U.S., more than 1.1 million people have been infected and over 68,000 people have died from COVID-19.
