DC School Teacher Arrested on Child Sex Abuse Charges: Police

Police say 35-year-old Manuel Garcia Fernandez had sex with two girls and one boy between last August and this February.

WASHINGTON, DC — Police have arrested a teacher at a D.C. charter school on charges that he had sexual relations on multiple occasions with three victims: two girls and one boy.

Police arrested 35-year-old Manuel Garcia Fernandez of Northwest on three counts of second degree child sexual abuse that occurred between Aug. 17, 2016 and Feb. 6, 2017, according to a report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

The report does not mention the school, but the offense location is listed as the 1800 block of Perry Street NE, which is the location of the Perry Street Preparatory Public Charter School.

Police arrested Fernandez on Friday, Feb. 24.

"The investigation revealed that the suspect, who was employed as a public charter school teacher, engaged in sexual contact on multiple occasions with two female victims and one male victim," the report states.
