DC Wheels To Deliver Food To Veterans Via Skateboard

As a way to celebrate Veterans Day, The DC Wheels will join other volunteers Wednesday in delivering food to homeless and homebound vets.

WASHINGTON, DC — As part of a Veterans Day celebration, a group of volunteers have planned a unique and entertaining way to honor and create awareness of veterans and homeless veterans with music, food, and a skating demonstration.

The event will take place Wednesday, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at Banneker Skatepark (2500 Georgia Ave., N.W.). The DC Wheels will give a skating presentation and We Fit Vets will lead a community workout to prepare volunteers for delivering Meals on DC Wheels. In case of rain, the skating demonstration will take place at Bridgeport Skatepark (101 H. St., S.E.), near the U.S. Capitol.

Volunteers will rally at 1:30 p.m., at Torrie’s Restaurant (700 V St., N.W.), where donated meals from Torrie's and PLNT Burger will be distributed. The DC Wheels will be delivering the lunches via their skateboards.
