DC Woman, 37, Fatally Shot Near Southeast Elementary School

WASHINGTON, DC — Nikia Young, 37, of Southeast, D.C. was shot to death Tuesday near Boone Elementary School in Southeast.

Young was found suffering from gunshot wounds around 12:01 p.m., by officers from the Sixth District of the Metropolitan Police Department. They'd responded to the 2200 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast for the report of a shooting.

Young was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.

Anyone with information about Young's deaths is asked to call MPD at 202-727-9099. Anonymous tips may be submitted via the department's text tip line by texting a message to 50411.
