DC Woman, 64, Dies Weeks After Being Shot In Brightwood Park: Police

WASHINGTON, DC — Phyllis Williams, 64, of Northwest died on May 8 from injuries she received during a triple shooting that occurred two weeks before in Brightwood Park, according to a police release.

Williams and two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds around 6:38 p.m., on April 22, in the 600 block of Kennedy Street, Northwest.

D.C. Fire and EMS transported Williams to the hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. She succumbed to those injuries on May 8. The two men were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined that Williams had died due to complications from a gunshot wound. The death was ruled a homicide.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.
