This Is DC's Best Restaurant, According To People Magazine

The magazine chose the best restaurants in all 50 states and the District, and went with a somewhat surprising choice for D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Ethiopian restaurant Dukem in Logan Circle is the best restaurant in the District, if you believe People Magazine.

People chose the best restaurant in all 50 states and D.C. recently, and passed over more trendy choices like Jose Andres' barmini or Pineapple and Pearls to select Dukem.

"The district takes pride in the cluster of Ethiopian restaurants along the U Street corridor, where Dukem proudly serves rich and flavorful stews—like chicken-studded doro wot—to Ethiopian expats, globe-trotters and newbies alike," the report states.

Dukem is certainly not an unknown establishment in D.C. The eatery has earned a stellar reputation for itself since opening in 1997. Its food earned a 4.4 rating out of five from food guide Zagat. However, it's not among D.C.'s 13 Michelin-starred restaurants.
