Delays, Road Closures During President Bush DC Funeral Procession
A number of roads will be closed in the Washington, DC, area starting Monday for President George Herbert Walker Bush's funeral procession.

WASHINGTON, DC — A number of roads will be closed starting Monday, Dec. 3, for President George Herbert Walker Bush's funeral procession. The nation's 41st president died Friday, Nov. 30, in Houston. He was 94 years old.

District officials said President Bush's funeral procession will cause traffic delays. Here's everything you need to know about the traffic, per the Metropolitan Police Department:

Monday, Dec. 3
Closures will begin at 3:15 p.m. and end around 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Police say drivers should "expect extensive traffic delays and closures of side streets." The route is posted below.

- The motorcade will depart Joint Base Andrews via the Maryland Gate
- Cross Allentown Road onto Forestville Road
- Left on Suitland Parkway
- Right onto Firth Sterling Avenue SE
- Merge onto I-295 / I-695 / I-395
- Exit Washington Avenue SW
- Left on Independence Avenue SW
- Right on 3rd Street SW
- Right on Constitution Avenue NW
- Right on Delaware Avenue NE
- Motorcade arrives at the U.S. Capitol
Wednesday, Dec. 5
On Wednesday, closures will begin at 9:15 a.m. until about 11 a.m. Expect delays and side streets to be closed, according to police.

- Motorcade will depart the U.S. Capitol via Delaware Avenue NE
- Left on Constitution Avenue NW
- Right on Pennsylvania Avenue NW
- Right on 15th Street NW
- Left on Pennsylvania Avenue NW
- Continue on Pennsylvania Avenue NW
- Right on 22nd Street NW
- Left on Massachusetts Avenue NW
- Right on Wisconsin Avenue NW
- Right into the National Cathedral Complex
The motorcade will then take President Bush's body to Joint Base Andrews. Closures will be at 11 a.m., and will remain closed until around 1:30 p.m. Drivers should anticipate delays and road closures, officials said.
