Disabled Equipment Causes Problems on Metro Green/Yellow Lines Monday Morning

A "disabled work unit" forced Metro to do single-tracking for a while.

WASHINGTON, DC — A "disabled work unit" at the George Avenue-Petworth Metro station Monday morning caused major delays on the Green and Yellow lines.

Metro tweeted at around 5:30 a.m.that trains were single-tracking between Georgia Avenue and Fort Totten due to disabled equipment, with delays in both directions.

Metro tweeted about a half hour later that trains were no longer single-tracking, but residual delays continued in both directions. Metro reported that trains had returned to normal service shortly before 7 a.m., although a track problem outside L'Enfant Plaza caused further delays at about that time on the Green and Yellow lines. Normal service didn't resume until 8 a.m.
