Franklin Torres, 33, was confronted by the victim's mother after she found a nude photo online.

A District man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for taking photos of a teenage boy he sexually assaulted and posting them on Facebook.

Franklin "Giovanni" Torres, 33, of D.C. was found guilty on March 11 for production of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography and first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, according to a statement from the Department of Justice. He was sentenced on June 15.

The prosecution claimed that Torres lived in a residence with the victim's family between January 2014 and April 2015 in Northwest. The victimized teenage boy had immigrated from El Salvador less than two years ago and had reunited with his parents who had immigrated a few years earlier.

The parents allowed Torres to live in the apartment when he lost his job, but after a few months, the mother found a naked photo of a boy with the face obscured on Torres' Facebook page.

As it turned out, the teenage victim was the boy in the photo, and the photo had been taken by Torres when he was sexually abusing him.

The mother confronted Torres, prompting him to delete it from Facebook and apologize. The mother then found more photos on Torres' cell phone, so she contacted the police after Torres moved out. The boy also told police he had been sexually abused.
