DNC Shocked by Shooting Death of Staffer in Northwest DC
Seth Rich was shot multiple times in the Bloomingdale neighborhood early Sunday.

The Democratic National Committee is mourning a 27-year-old staffer who was shot to death as he walked home in Northwest D.C. early Sunday.
Seth Conrad Rich was shot multiple times in the 2100 block of Flagler Place in the Bloomingdale neighborhood near Howard University Hospital, according to police. Media reports indicate that the shooting may have been an attempted robbery.
Police were patrolling the area at around 4:19 a.m. when they heard gunshots. They found Rich conscious and breathing, suffering from gunshot wounds. He died from his injuries later at this hospital, according to a Metropolitan Police Department report.

DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz issued a statement on Rich's death, calling him a "dedicated, selfless public servant."
"He was a joy to have as a member of our team, and his talents, intelligence and enthusiasm will be deeply missed by the many friends, colleagues and coworkers who worked by his side in service to the highest ideals of our democracy," she said. "We send our deepest heartfelt sympathies to Seth’s family, and we will keep them in our thoughts and prayers as we try to pick up the pieces and carry on the work that was so important to Seth and to us."
