About the Exhibition: Artist, Vian Borchert's "Elevation" series aims to create elevated feelings aspiring towards reaching emotional and cognitive realms through engagement and experience of the work. Borchert describes her art as a form of visual poetry, where each work becomes a visual vehicle that transports the viewer into elevated emotional states through the use of imagery be it atmospheric skies, clouds dancing at sunset, or stars twinkling in the night sky. Natural elements within the artist's paintings, such as water and clouds, become conduits for evoking transcendence: the sky suggests boundless possibilities, water symbolizes flow and renewal, and clouds embody freedom and a sense of joy. These recurring themes underscore philosophical concepts of Borchert's inner world while resonating universally with notions of hope, harmony, and peace. Rooted in her personal journey and shaped by voyages at sea along with nostalgic childhood memories; the work aspires to engage the viewer in a meditative exchange that leads toward an uplifted consciousness and a Zen like state of mind. Through painterly brushstrokes and lyrical blue color fields, Borchert's paintings seek to act as a bridge to rejuvenation, not only on a visual level but also intellectually and emotionally. Hence, the theme of "Elevation" unfolds through layered metaphorical symbolism, offering an ascent of the spirit and an uplifting resonance of the soul through the poetic power of art.

Be sure to see this Friday evening at Vika Gallery.
